Since then, the Holy Shroud has been recognised as the most precious relic in the Christian world, the testimony of a unique event imprinted on a simple linen cloth. After its removal from Byzantium and its arrival in Athens, the Shroud disappeared for some 150 years until it officially reappeared in France in 1356. The lost years of the Shroud allow a new suggestive hypothesis: its possible passage from Florence, where it would have been kept in secret.
